Salta
Salta City, capital of the province, was founded on April 16th, 1582 by Hernando de Lerma, governor of Tucumán and it was originally placed in a beautiful and fertile valley that takes its name.
Well-known as Salta "la linda" , it is one of the few Argentine cities that has preserved its colonial architecture and style. Modern buildings complement this scenario along with several green spaces, such as the San Martin Park, connected to San Bernardo Hill by the cableway.
Train to Clouds
It is one of the three highest railroads of the world, crosses steep mountains the Andes Mountain Range surrounded by spectacular landscapes.
This magnificent work was carried out by Richard Maury, an American engineer.
This train, internationally renowned, runs through 217 km starting off Salta city, crossing the Lerma Valley and entering the Quebrada del Toro to arrive at the Puna.
Its most important stops are Salta (1.187 metres above sea level), Alvarado, Campo Quijano and El Alisal.
