Information:
It was founded in May, 1902 on the banks of Nahuel
Huapi Lake in the province of Rio Negro. The
city is well known for its architectonic characteristics
and for its privileged and beautiful location,
surrounded by hills, forests, lakes, glaciers and prominent
flora. Bariloche is one of the
most popular cities in the Patagonia and one of
the most important tourist centers of the country.
Both national and international tourism come and enjoy
this marvellous place at all times of year. No matter
it is spring or summer, it is ideal for going on
excursions and doing activities outdoors. In winter, snow
offers a singular view, and skiing in one of the most
important ski resorts in South America (Cathedral Hill),
acts as the perfect complement. In this context,
the famous Snow National Celebration, constitutes
a real international, sporting, artistic and social
event.
Civic Center: This National Historical
Monument is one of the most typical and representative
places of the city. Its buildings have a medieval style
and they meet around a small and colorful Park. There,
you can find the Town Hall, the Secretariat of Tourism,
the Local Police Station, the Patagonia Museum
and the Sarmiento Library.
